Originally from Ethiopia one finds this pepper in the hilly mountains of Africa all the way between Sierra Leone to South Africa. This pepper looks like the more familiar long peppercorns from India or Indonesia but its taste is totally different, rather fresh with a hint of mint and notes of tobacco leaves. Like other long peppers, it can be crushed using a mortar and pestle and are a perfect match with mashed potatoes and meat.
